My name is Mocha and this is my story. It is the story of my incredible life and adventures.

Page 1

It is the story of true trust and a special bond with my chosen person, destined together to comfort, protect, and watch over others.

Page 2

I was born under my mom’s fierce and watchful care.  She guarded me because I was young and fragile, and she threatened any of the other horses in the barn that came near me.

Page 3

She would put her body in between us in order to defend me.

Page 4

I quickly learned to stand on long clumsy legs, and the next challenge was learning to drink my mom’s milk. This task was done with my mom’s nudging, encouragement, and never-ending patience.

Page 5

Not long after that, we were separated.

Page 6

Eventually, I was turned out into a herd when I was six months old, free to run and play with other horses in a large field.

Page 7

The rancher began to teach me lessons about work, which involved carrying a saddle and a metal bit in my mouth. This took some getting used to, but soon I was expected to carry a rider and chase cows out of a herd.

Page 8

I really hated chasing cows and did not want to scare them. I also missed my mother.

Page 9

One magical day, I was with my herd when I saw a girl standing on the other side of the fence quietly watching us.  I sensed this girl was kind and special.  Something told me she was meant to be my protector.

Page 10

I walked over and stood in front of her and put my head over the fence and rested it in her arms. I would not leave. “I’m Pepper,” the little girl said. “What’s your name?”

Page 11

What was my name? I did not know.

Page 12

“You look like a Mocha!” Pepper reassured me and asked the rancher about my story. He told her that I was a failure at cutting cows. I lowered my head in shame.

Page 13

But Pepper didn’t care at all about me cutting cows! Instead, she scratched my neck and behind my ears and rubbed my velvet soft nose.

Page 14

For some reason, I knew this girl was my forever-meant-to-be special person!!!

Page 15

She instantly became my new mom and later told me that Almighty God above had sent me to her!
